Art in the Garden

My friend, fellow artist, and landscape designer extraordinaire, Barton Hatcher opened his home garden in Wilmington, NC for 5 artists to show and sell their work last weekend. The weather was glorious (just as we ‘ordered’) the garden was lush and beautiful, and quarantine-weary people eager to get out of their homes came to see and purchase. There was a lively and engaging variety of art presented: Betsy Parker/ceramics; Todd Carignan/oil paintings; Shawn Etheridge/figurative and abstract acrylic paintings; Fritzi Huber/hand crafted paper; and my own mixed media work.

I assisted Barton with publicity for the event by creating videos for each artist, and a compilation video featuring everyone’s work. It was a perfect opportunity for me to test my skills with a new app I’d found earlier in the year: Animoto. It’s a very intuitive, user-friendly platform which makes designing videos quite simple. Here’s the one featuring all of our work.

Art in the Garden was an excellent opportunity me to get back into the swing of things; Stan and I realized that this was the first time we’d participated in a show since October of 2019, thanks to the fire and the pandemic. This may be the only in-person show we do this year, we’ll see how things go. It was a fun weekend: I met some great people, gained several new collectors, and reconnected with some Wellesley alums—what could be better than that? Some images of our set up are below…Enjoy!

Until next time,

Michelle
